Dr. Kakha Shengelia
President, International Association of University Presidents

Dear Colleague:

Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG), CETYS University, and CSU San Bernardino, welcome IAUP delegates and higher education leaders from all over the world to the city of Guadalajara, in the beautiful state of Jalisco, Mexico.

The Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara is the second largest and most populated region of Mexico, famous for well–known Mexican icons such as sombreros, rodeos, mariachi music, and tequila, and more recently Mexico's Silicon Valley. We are pleased to invite you to visit us and attend the Semi-Annual Meeting of IAUP entitled “University Responsiveness to Changing Times” November 20-23, 2017.

The meeting will gather a diverse array of University Presidents to discuss relevant topics impacting higher education today. The programme, in addition to the usual IAUP meetings and sessions, will include panels with an emphasis on Innovation in Higher Education.

Finally, we are glad to inform that here you will find relevant information concerning the programme, logistics, UAG, CETYS, CSU San Bernardino, and the city of Guadalajara as well as hotel, registration for the meeting, and other details you might need in order to have a fruitful and enjoyable experience.

See you in November!

Dr. Antonio Leaño Reyes
President of the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara

The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara is proud to be the venue for the IAUP SEMI-ANNUAL MEETING 2017 LATIN AMERICAN CONFERENCE and to be able to discuss and evaluate the great challenges that higher education in our countries faces in the international context. We extend a warm welcome to the university presidents and academics who are members of our association, authorities and special guests, with whom we look forward to contributing toward consolidating a world-class education of quality, a task which is for us a great opportunity to share the experiences that our institution—the first private university in Mexico—has accumulated over the 82 years since its founding.

I am convinced that the best stimuli to be found for our institution’s continuing to build on the long history it has enjoyed are responding to young people’s thirst for knowledge and our commitment to educating with values, which will continue being the banner of the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. Moreover, I believe that all our students and alumni have limitless possibilities for attaining success, something for which I feel satisfied, grateful for the trust placed in us, and certain about continuing to foster innovation and cutting-edge education that prepares, more and better, every student who is committed to his or her future, “Because the world of tomorrow will be what the quality of its education is”—and this is what we share with you all. Welcome! . . . and may you enjoy much success in the work ahead in our meeting.
